Thoughtful questions. When you stop to think about it, there's more invested than one might have thought at first glance; shop rental, electric wizzy things, a collection of new carbs, parts cars, storage space, fabricating costs, special tools for British nuts and bolts, special paint, undercoatings, a gazzillion dollars on weather stripping (none of which works), a selection of tires and wheels, recovery gear (none of which is cheap), a collection of brake parts(to try and make them work).
You've asked about day and weekend excursions, what about longer expeditions of a week or three? I spend way more on them than a simple weekend, like just getting off and back on this island. Weekend averages? This weekend is going to be close to a thousand dollars yet my average is only 1-2 hundred. Greg S Land Rover owner (leaf sprung of course) |

do I count all three trucks leading up to the current truck? and the new trailer plus the net loss on the old trailer? don't forget the tents and camping equipment that I no longer use ? The new car as a daily driver is part of the wheeling infrastructure because my Jeep got to a point that I can't use it as a daily driver any more.
Eeek I could analyze forever so I'll just say a hundred grand. |
